Leonard Odell Bullock

Funeral will be 2pm Friday, June 26, 2015, at Village Chapel for Leonard Odell Bullock age 82 , born June 02, 1933 of Gadsden, who passed away on June 23, 2015. Reverend Buddy O’Bryant will officiate. Burial will take place at Forrest Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements. Leonard graduated from Emma Sansom High School class of 1951, and attended Jacksonville State University. He served in the United States Army for two years and worked at Gulf States Steel for over forty years. He absolutely loved being outside and spending time talking with family and friends. He loved being at his river lot at Bay Springs Campgrounds and sitting around a fire. He spent his life helping and serving others, whether working on a car, lawn mower, or just fixing something in his garage. Leonard was a Master Mason member of Dwight Lodge 550. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Murel Bullock; sisters, Margaret and Dorothy; brothers, Jerry and Gordon Bullock. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan Hays Bullock; daughters, Kim Bullock, Kay Bullock and Kristi (Brian) Short; grandchildren, Sharee Payne Christian, Emily (Adam) Helms, Cody and Heather Short; six great grandchildren, Taylor Pointer, Alec Pointer, Matthew Helms, Marley Helms, Mitchell Mabrey, and Cooper Christian; brothers, Euclid (Jo) Bullock, Donald Bullock; sister, Shirley Faye Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be Brian Short, Cody Short, Adam Helms, Matt Smith, Tommy Jones and Mark Bullock. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Masonic Lodge Number 550, all of the Jacks of Alabama City lunch crew, and Jeff Wilson. Special thanks to Gadsden Regional Cancer Center, Dr. Lucian Newman 3rd, and Dr. Jeremy Goodwin, every friend and family member who have called, visited and said prayers during this tough time, especially the Fails family. “He will cover you with His feathers and under His wings, you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield.” Psalms 91:4. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
