James "Dinky" Roy Patterson Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024, at Village Chapel for James “Dinky” Roy Patterson Jr., 49, of Gadsden, who died Sunday, March 3, 2024. Rev. Hollis Martin, Dee Dee Patterson, and Ronnie Partridge will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Dinky attended Etowah High School. He worked in construction for over 25 years. He was always a hard working man and took pride in being able to provide for his family, and he would help anyone he could. His personality was extraordinary; he enjoyed cutting up and making everyone laugh. His three greatest accomplishments were marrying his wife, his son being born, and his daughter. He enjoyed Miami Hurricane football (except when they were losing), fishing, and airsoft. Dinky was a jack of all trades. To know him was to love him even when he pushed his limits. He loved all things superheroes, transformers, and G.I. Joes. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandson, son, son in law, uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and soccer coach, who loved all of his family and friends and will be dearly missed by those who knew him. He is preceded in death by father, James Patterson; mother, Shirley Patterson; grandparents, Hazel and Roy Patterson, Josephine Bates, and Pawpaw McDaniel. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Gidget Patterson; son, Tyler Patterson; daughter, Tiffany Patterson; mother & father-in-love, Debra and Donnie Scarber Sr; grandfather, Roy Bates Sr; brothers & sisters-in-love, Donnie Scarber Jr., Tina Scarber, Christopher and Kristie Scarber; nieces and nephews, Jordon, Christopher, Christian, Trina, and Caden Scarber with spouses; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews, chosen kids, Deon Rowe, Summer Robinson, Sydney Childers, Maddy Martin, Mollie Dail, Jacob White; and chosen grandson, Finnley Martin- Seabourn. Pallbearers will be Tyler Patterson, Tiffany Patterson, Jordon Scarber, Christopher Scarber, Christian Scarber, and Caden Scarber. Honorary pallbearers are “Polkie” Leonard LeRoy Patterson Jr., Ronnie Partridge, Danny “Head” Patterson Sr., Danny “DeeDee” Patterson Jr. and Larry Bryon. Special thanks to GRMC ER, 8th floor, and MICU, Anniston Nolan RMC, Rainbow City Amedysis Hospice, Cassie Scruggs, Dr. Brooke Gorham, Tonya Laney, special thanks to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time, especially Unipres Alabama, Inc., Fresh Value Gadsden, Walmart East Gadsden, and Lisa and Ronnie Partridge. Visitation will be from 10am- 12pm on Friday, March 8th, 2024, at Village Chapel Funeral Home.
