Harry Joe Lewis

Harry Joe Lewis, age 63, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was married to his beloved wife, Karen Grove Lewis. They loved each other so much that they married twice. He was born in Coalgate, Oklahoma, on April 13, 1960, to Robert Lee and Norma Jean Lewis. He graduated in 1978 from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended Foster Estes VO Tech to study diesel engines. He was a mechanic by trade and worked in the automotive industry his entire adult life, doing everything from repairing autos, ambulances, police cars, fire trucks, and construction equipment. At times he drove 18 wheelers and wreckers. He often said he could fix anything from bicycles to a broken heart. He had a very quirky sense of humor and always had funny stories to share. He was a member of 89er American Pit Bull Terrier Club for several years and he served as the Publicity Director. He worked very hard to promote the good qualities and change the bad image of pit bulls. He loved riding his Harley and spent many hours “in the wind.” This is where he always found peace. Joe is survived by his wife, Karen; special furbaby, Lola; daughter, Mandy (Don) Hogan; sons of the heart, Micheal Marin, Chris Marin; daughter of the heart, Angela Wilson; grandchildren, Adrienne, Autumn, Ashlyn, Rachel, Jayden, Luna, and Brooklyn; great-grandchildren, A.J., D.J., Derian, Kyson and Kendrick; brother, Bobby (Lisa) Lewis; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Ali) Al-Saadoon, Lori Brandtley, and Beth (Roger) Coggins; nieces, McKenna Brantley, Hannah (Daren) Peacock; nephews, Laith (Sylvia) Al-Saadoon, Jesse Coggins, and Joe Coggins; uncle, A.D. (Darlene Lewis; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Lewis; mother, Norma Lewis; father-in-law, Buddy Grove; mother-in-law, Joan Grove; and great-grandson, Jaylyn. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Village Chapel Funeral Home. Live streaming will be available at www.villagechapelfuneralhome.com . Harley attire is encouraged. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any of the following that were close to his heart: Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, St. Jude’s, or any dog/animal rescue of your choice.
