Mr. Willie L. "Bill" Williams

September 13, 1923 - August 19, 2017

Funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday for Willie L. “Bill” Williams, age 93, of Gadsden, who passed away August 19, 2017. Reverend Ray Wain will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Williams served in the United States Navy and was Veteran of World War II. He was member of the 7th Fleet, under Admiral Halsey, in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Medusa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Alma C. Williams; parents, Joseph and Blanche Williams; brothers, Robert, Olen, Joe and Bobby Williams; sisters, Ruby Sitz, Ellen Baldwin, Helen Walker and Wayne Adams. He is survived by his children, Larry Williams, Bonnie (Stanley) Brasher, Jeff (Jeannie) Williams, Janice (Sonny) Steele, Terry (Eileen) Williams and Wanda (George) Lancaster; sisters, Christine Smith, Carolyn Reynolds and Linda (Tommy) Shields; grandchildren, Eddie Brasher, April (Dewayne) Handy, Craig Brasher, Shane (Shannon) Williams, Trudie (Chase) Guffey, Ginger Mack, Joey Steele and Nancy Bowen, Devin Williams, Dylan Williams, Heather Walker, Crystal Lancaster, Sage Williams, Heather (Mickey) Curtis, Jessie (Ashley) Williams; 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive flowers or donations may be made to Central Avenue Baptist Church, in honor of W.L. Bill Williams. Pallbearers will be Eddie Brasher, Craig Brasher, Shane Williams, Joey Steele, Devin Williams and Dylan Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons, Austin Handy, Cody Lackey, Beau Brasher, Asher Williams, Cruz Williams, Jeremiah Walker, Malachi Walker, Landon Brasher and Reglan Curtis. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Alacare Hospice, Dr. Deborah Reiland, nurse Becky and Daddy’s sitters.
