Mrs. Shirley F. Freeman

November 4, 1935 - August 9, 2018

Shirley F. Freeman, 82, went to be with her lord and savior on Thursday August 9, 2018. Mrs. Freeman was a lifelong resident of Gadsden, AL, and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She looked forward to Sunday mornings and the fellowship that she shared with her Sunday school class and church friends. To help the new lady members at Fairview Baptist Church establish friendships, Mrs. Freeman and her close friend Emma Lou LeCroy created a monthly luncheon group, the “fair ladies”. She treasured this time with her friends. As an avid rook player, she enjoyed meeting with her friends for their weekly rook games on Monday mornings. For years, she enjoyed bowling with the Attalla Coffee Breakers Women’s bowling team. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of four children. She cared deeply for her family and friends. She is preceded in death by; her husband of 47 years, James M. Freeman Jr., daughter Laverne Tyler, father Raymond Hoffman, and mother Thelma Collie Hoffman, and her two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by; sons Thomas Freeman (Roberta), Todd Freeman (Karen) and daughter Tara Guthery (Mark), grandchildren, Brian Fulmer (Danielle), Rena Hulsey (Jamie) , Cody Freeman and Anna Guthery, along with six great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Sisters; Barbara Laughlin and Donna K Garrett. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Village Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the time of the service. Brother Philip Elliott will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Fulmer, Cody Freeman, Jim Tyler, Mark Guthery, Jamie Hulsey, and Michael Sites. The family would like to thank special neighbors, Larry and Michael LeCroy, and special friends, Vickie, June, Janice, MaryAnn, Gejuan and Emma Lou.
