Funeral will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Village Chapel for Sarah Jester Gray, 79, of Gadsden, who died Sunday, February 26, 2017. Dr. David Carroll will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gray was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of Malone Baptist Church and loved to sing hymns. Her and her husband dedicated their life to helping others. Sarah is survived by her husband of 60 years, J.W. Gray; children, Greg (Anjela) Gray and Cissy (Barry) Goodspeed; grandchildren, Hannah and Haley Gray, and Gray Goodspeed; brother, Jimmy (Gary) Jester; and brother-in-law, Ronald (Kay) Gray. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Special thanks to the staffs of Rittenhouse Village in Hoover and Amedisys Hospice. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until the time of the service.
