Mrs. Rebecca Ann Gilbert

Rebecca Ann Gilbert, 76, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2021, at her home with her beloved husband, Bobby Gilbert, by her side. Services will be Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Village Chapel Funeral Home in Gadsden at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, from 6-8 p.m. Rebecca Ann Findley was born October 14, 1944, in Chattanooga TN, and lived for a brief time at the Gilbert-Ellis Hotel. Ironically, Gilbert would become her married name 15 years later. Becky was welcomed into the arms of Jesus and her parents, Paul and Dorothy Findley; her infant daughter, Teresa Kaye Gilbert; her father-in-law, Bob Lee Gilbert, who she adored; and her mothers-in-law, Helen Gilbert and Laura Mae Gilbert. She was also reunited with their precious dog, Blu, that had been with them for 19 years. Becky will always be the heart of our family. She was an angel on earth to everyone she loved. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved unconditionally. Becky started her career late in life. While she and Bobby were truck drivers, she decided to go to nursing school at the age of 42. She graduated from Northeast Alabama Community College in 1988. Becky worked for Holy Name of Jesus Hospital and Ft. Payne Hospital. She found her true calling while working as a hospice nurse, which she loved dearly. All of her patients loved her, too. She received several letters from many family members thanking her for her care. Becky and Bobby started dating when they were 13 and 14 years old. When they were 15 and 16 years old, they eloped on October 12, 1960, to Bremen, GA. Two days later, Becky celebrated her 16th birthday. Bobby and Becky have been married for 60 years. They have shared a connection like no other. Family has always been the most important thing to both of them. Becky leaves behind the love of her life, husband, Bobby Lee Gilbert; children, Lisa (Ray) Deloteus, Keith (Sandy) Gilbert, Jenny (Trent) Thrasher; brothers, Wayne (Pam) Findley, Rick (Debbie) Findley; sister and brothers-in-law, Martha (Hugh) Douglas, Wayne Gilbert and Sue Holly; grandchildren, Britney Brockus, Spenser (Ryan) Moore, Zachary (Erin) Gilbert, Alex Gilbert, Clay Templeton, Gabriella Antonelli, Chloe Antonelli, and Tyler Thrasher; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ruby, Leia Brockus; Jaylin, Jackson and Liam Gilbert; Vivianne Antonelli Walton and Finn Moore; and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially her nurse Tyler, and also special lifelong friends, Greta Love and Linda Gilbert. Pallbearers will be Wayne Gilbert, Hugh Douglas, Zachary Gilbert, Clay Templeton, Tyler Thrasher, and Ryan Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Victor Kosky, Tommy Jones, Jon Douthard, Stewart Fowler and Jonny Vaughn.
