Mrs. Linda Waddell Hopper Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Village Chapel for Linda Waddell Hopper, 79, of Southside, who died Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Pastor Don Arnold and Pastor Tommy Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow at Samuel’s Chapel Cemetery. Linda was a very kind and loving woman, and she never held a grudge. Many times during her life she showed how loving and generous she was by taking in and caring for strangers. She would help them get through rough spots in their life and make sure they were back on their feet. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and was a member at The Tabernacle. Linda was a mother to many who were not her children. Mrs. Hopper is preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Hopper Murphy; mother, Clara Helton; father, James EJ Waddell; and brother, James Jerry Waddell. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter Hopper; son, Jeffery Hopper; grandchildren, Torrey Hopper, Mikal Murphy, and Joshua Bannister; 4 great-grandchildren; mother, Jeanette Waddell; siblings, Sheila Allsup, Suzie Robinson, Mark (Louise) Waddell, and Anita Phillips; close friend, Reba Long; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to The Tabernacle. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Hopper, Mark Waddell, Clay Fleming, Logan Fleming, Nathan Aplin, and Josh Randolph. The family would like to send thanks to special neighbor, Josh Randolph, and to all the healthcare workers who have taken care of Linda during her illness. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday.
