Mr. Larry Joseph "Tony" Pearson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm May 23, 2022, at Village Chapel Funeral Home, for Larry Joseph Pearson (known as Tony), age 72, Gadsden, who died May 14, 2022. Pastors Tommy Marshall and Jonathan Maki will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Pearson was born on May 15, 1949 in Ascension Parish, Gonzales, Louisiana to Lawrence Joseph Pearson and Virgie Templet Pearson. He was a Police Office in Napoleonville, Louisiana and Germantown, Tennessee. He had a Drafting degree from Delta College in Louisiana, where he was later an Instructor in Drafting. He graduated from International Bible College in San Antonio, Texas and was a Presbyterian Minister in Mount Hope, Alabama. He had a love of further Educating himself with numerous other degrees including a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Trinity Hall College in Denver, Colorado and a Bachelor of Law Degree from Blackstone School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. Although he was from Louisiana; a die hard LSU fan, he found his home in Alabama over 25 years ago where he meet lots of friends and family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Joseph Pearson, Brother; Lawrence Gayle Pearson, Sister; Sherry Marie Rizzuto, Grandparents; Samuel and Elme Pearson and John and Madeline Templet. He is survived by his life partner, companion and best friend of 20 years, Sherry McGowan, Mother; Virgie Templet, Children; Larry Pearson Jr. (Diana), Samuel Pearson, Caleb Pearson, Stepchildren; Patrick McGowan (fiancé Jackie Walker), Stephanie (Dan) Hall, Christy McGowan (fiancé Eric Driskill), Cody McGowan. Grandchildren; Destinie, Ethan and Meghan Pearson, Step Grandchildren; Brandon, McKenzie, Kaytlin, Jacob, C.J., Nick and Keira. Brother; Terry (Sheila) Pearson, Sisters; Sue Hernandez and Madeline Graham, Sister in laws; Carol (Jonathan) Maki, Felicia (Eddie) Jenkins, Rachel (Scott) Parham and a host or niece, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Patrick McGowan, Cody McGowan, Eric Driskill, Dan Hall, Daniel Chamblee, Scott Parham, Jonathan Maki and best friend Joey Ellison. Honorary Pallbearers: Dr Olajide Akinsanya, Doctors and staff of Riverview Regional Medical Center Emergency Department. Special thanks to the Friends and Neighbors of Holly Park Apartments. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
