John W. Cook Sr

September 5, 1930 - January 5, 2021

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Village Chapel, for John W. Cook Sr., 90, Attalla, who died Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Bro. Larry Garrard will officiate. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cook was a long time resident of Etowah County. He graduated from Baptist Bible Institute in 1972 and pastured many local churches spreading God’s Word, which he loved, until his passing. At his time of death, he was an active member of Cherry Street Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara June Cook; granddaughter, Jill Cook Vickery; parents, J.P. Sr and Dora Cook; and brothers, J.P. Jr., Dalton, and Morris Cook. He is survived by his son, Johnny (Carol) Cook; granddaughters, April (Daniel) Morgan, Holly (Michael) Holland; great-grandchildren, Lily Vickery, Jaden and Jenna Morgan, and Axel Holland; brother, Larry (Elaine) Cook; and sister, Dorothy (Coy) Brothers. Pallbearers will be Mike Cook, Jason Dodd, Michael Holland, and Greg Keel. Honorary pallbearers will be special friend, George Hawkins, and Travis Atkins. Special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Ashley Chambers, Krystal Osborn, and Donna Hawk. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at Village Chapel.
