Mr. Homer Earl Brothers

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday December 6, 2020, at Conn Cemetery, for Homer Earl Brothers, age 79, of Gallannt, who passed away November 28, 2020. Reverend Michael Saffels and Dr. David Carroll will officiate. Mr. Brothers was a 1963 graduate of Jacksonville State University with a math degree. He was active in ROTC. As a youth he was an Eagle Scout, and was also awarded God and Country, as well as 3 palms due to his ongoing service to God, country and leadership. His name is inscribed for commemoration on the Dedication Wall of Eagle Scouts of the Greater Alabama Council in Birmingham, Alabama. He loved to travel and explored abroad. During his travels, he visited all but five states in the continental United States. Tailgating with the Auburn tigers, he enjoyed different campuses across the southeast. Raising cattle and farming was never work for him but pure joy. He worked in supervision at Gulf States Steel for 35 years. He attended Ivalee Baptist church. Preceded in death: Parents Homer and Bertie Brothers and his brother Kenny Brothers Survived By: Beloved Wife Patricia Brothers, Daughters: Carla (Danny) Campbell, Tina (Brett) St. John, Regina (Barry) Gargus, Kim (Roger) Hicks, Stacey (Eric) Kiefer, and sons Alan (Marsia) Brothers and Ray (Kelley) Franks. He is also survived by siblings Anna Wayne Saffels, Bert (Joyce) Brothers and Mary Ellen Smith as well as a large family of many grand and great grandchildren whom he loved to spend time with. He loved his family and enjoyed any reason to gather. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gallant Volunteer Fire Department, Conn Cemetery as he loved his community or to any COVID relief effort.
