Mr. Curtis "Roscoe" Garner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 19, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Lookout First Congregational Methodist Church, Tabor Road, Gadsden for Curtis “Roscoe” Garner, who passed away at his home on July 15, 2021. Brother Ken Roberts will officiate. Roscoe was born on May 15, 1944, to Curtis Olen and Gwendolyn Moon Garner, and was adored by his two aunts, Thelm and Ollie Moon. Roscoe spent his life as an invalid but was not hampered by his disability in fulfilling his passions of life that included his community of Highland, Tabor, and Black Creek updated on the news, gossip, weather, and reports of notable local, state, national and world news through his nightly phone calls. Roscoe leaves behind many cousins, friends, and neighbors who can fondly recall many stories and memories he helped make through his years. Roscoe enjoyed social events of any kind, especially visiting churches, singings and revivals. His membership is noted on many local church rosters. He was particularly fond of Alabama football, the Atlanta Braves, and James Spann. Roscoe will be lovingly missed by his church family at Mount Lookout. Sincere thanks to Perry Glenn, caregiver Lucille Towle, and to all who took time out to visit, take Roscoe to events, bring gifts and treats, and be his friend in his 77 years. In liue of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Lookout Cemetery Fund.
