Mr. Billy Dean Wester
September 20, 1954 - February 21, 2022
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Village Chapel for Billy Dean Wester, 87, of Gadsden. J.D. McDuffie and son Roger Woodward will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wester was born in Etowah County and raised in Hokes Bluff. He graduated Hokes Bluff High School in 1952. Mr. Wester attended Jacksonville State University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1954. After serving during the Korean War, he returned home. Billy married the late Peggy Jean Spradlin in 1956. Mr. Wester later married the late Margaret Ann Hancock. Billy D. had been employed and retired with the Goodyear Tire & Rubbery Company with 37 years of service. Bill entered his eternal home with Jesus on the morning of February 21st, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pauline Wester; brother, Harold Wester; and his beloved wives, Margaret Woodward Wester and Peggy Spradlin Wester. Billy is survived by his daughters, Karen McRae of Pell City, Kathy (Richard) Smith of Murphreesboro, TN, Suzonne (Michael) Burke of Temecula, CA, Tammy (Jeff) Gray of Gadsden, Ponda (Larry) Cobb of Clayton; son, Roger (Cynthia) Woodward of Union City, TN; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Paula Wester; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Sue Strain. Pallbearers will be Tony Baty, Richard Smith, Alex Taylor, J.D. McDuffie, Eric Wattenbarger, Colton Woodward, and Roger Woodward. Special thanks to Dr. Johnathan Fuller and David Fuller, Dr. Eta, Nurse Charlie, Ms. Donna, Mountain Cove Assisted Living staff, Monica, Kim, Christina, J.D., Mandy, sitter Brandy, Riverview Regional Medical Center nurses and staff, Kristi, Kristi, Deanna, Mandy, and Bailey. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday.
