Mr. Billy Darnell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, October, 12, 2021, at Village Chapel, for Billy Darnell, age 83, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021. Pastor Meagan Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Darnell retired from The United States Marine Corps after 20 years service and was a veteran of the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He later retired as a painter after 27 years. Mr. Darnell was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Jean Darnell. He is survived by his daughters, Tanya Darnell (Chuck) Ramirez, Rhonda Lee Darnell (Brian) Reeves; grandchildren, Brianna Ramirez, Alixandra (Alexander Brownstine) Ramirez, Meagan Reeves, Halee Reeves, and Hunter Reeves; greatgrandchildren, Ellana Steele, Zane Ramirez, Grayson Ramirez, Ava Brownstine, and Caroline Phillips; sisters, Pat Mitchell, Linda Roden, and Gloria Simmons; a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Pat Winn, Hunter Reeves, Chuck Ramirez, Brian Reeves, Kyle Stewart, Mark Roden, Dwayne Mitchell, and Mike Thornton. Honorary pallbearers will be: Christopher Roden, T.J. Roden, Scott Thacker, Chason Mitchell, and Keith Covington. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Ugochukwu Abhazu, Ryan Clemons, and Samantha Key. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
