Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at New Haven Church of God for Amy Sue Blake, 78, of Rainbow City, who went to her heavenly home on February 25, 2022. Rev. Michael Knight will officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Amy was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Smith; parents, J.T. Owens and Audrey Owens; granddaughter, Talisha Ware; and ex-husband and best friend, Paul E. Blake. She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Blake and Nadine Dodgen; sons, Clarence Dodgen Jr.; grandson (whom she raised as her own), Joseph Smith; grandson, Ronald Howell; granddaughters, Stella Howell and Cassie Leatherwood; chosen family whom she loved just as her own, Kristy Harris, Dalton Thacker, Daniel Thacker, Anna Thacker and Caleb Croft; special fur-baby, Precious Brown-Eyes; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special cousins. Amy was a member of the Church of God and loved the Lord with all her heart. Anyone that knew Amy knew from the moment they met her that she was a true Christian. Amy was a very special person who genuinely loved everyone and had such a huge heart. Despite her age, she remained a 2 year old at heart. She could bring a smile to anyone’s face. Pallbearers will be Mike Rains, Chris Rains, Stevie Smith, Greg Smith, Daniel Thacker, and Steven Mendez. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. H. Patel, Lisa Tuck, Tim Warren, chosen son Kevin Gillilan, and Holly Whisenant. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday.
