Mr. William H. "Bill" Kinsey Sr.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday , October 12, 2015, at Village Chapel for, William “Bill” H. Kinsey Sr., age 85, of Gadsden, who died October 7, 2015 at Shepherds Cove under the care of Hospice of Marshall County. He died with close family and friends nearby. Minister Blake Jones of Rainbow City Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Kinsey had been a resident of Albertville, AL for the last 3 years and a resident of the Garden House at Merrill Gardens for 2 years. Before moving to Albertville, Bill lived in Gadsden his entire life and there he raised his 3 children. He loved and played with his grandchildren and most of his great grandchildren. Some were not born until he moved to Albertville. Then he was still delighted when any of them visited. Bill was always a hard worker. Any man or woman who worked with Bill would tell you the same and often they did. Bill worked for Stamps and Company Produce for 26 years. After their closing he worked 35 years for Post Welding Supply. He always taught his children to “give a man an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay.” Bill was for the most part a proper gentleman. He was there with a ready handshake for the men. If a lady was inclined to a hug, he presented her a proper and respectful hug. Bill was the kind of person that people liked. As his son-in-law Gary said, “If you didn’t like Bill Kinsey there was something wrong on your part, not on Bill’s.” We never met a person who didn’t like Bill. He was preceded in death by his parents, William V. and Stella Erwin Kinsey; wife, Jo Ann Hood Kinsey; son, William H. Kinsey Jr.; special friend and companion, Sarah Newsome. He is survived by his daughters, Dyralyn (Roland) New and Tina (Gary) Kinsey Quarles; grandsons, Brian and Craig New; granddaughters, Misty (Jay) Holcomb, Kayla (Jeff) Johnson, Anna (Jimmy) Cline; great grandsons, Levi Cline, Seth Holcomb, Tristen Holcomb, Cade Holcomb, Dylan Holcomb, Clay Johnson, Colt Johnson and Conner New; great granddaughters, Jacee Holcomb, Taylor New and Ella Grace Quarles. The family wishes to express a very special thanks to the staff and employees at Merrill Gardens. We are especially grateful to Mary Ladd at Merrill Gardens. Our heartfelt thanks also goes to Jo Webster for the wonderful care she provided for Bill, during his last few days and hours. Pallbearers will be Larry Tarrance, Craig New, Randy Pruett, Jeff Machen, Keith Collier and Larry Easley. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
