Mrs. Sherry D. Cannon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sherry D. Cannon, who departed this life on April 19, 2026, in Gadsden, Alabama. Sherry was born in 1953 to Jimmy and Mauldine Glass. Sherry was married to Dale Cannon for over 50 years. As a wife, she stood by him and cared for him with devotion, giving of herself fully through every season. As a daughter she cared for her own mother and father , doing all she could for them with love and responsibility. As our mother, she was a strong-minded woman—sharp as a tack, gritty, and unwavering in her love. She loved unconditionally and without fail, and did everything she could to make sure her children were cared for. She was not only a mother, but a true friend and a listener at heart—someone who quietly carried the concerns of others, often worrying about those she loved more than herself. We all carry different memories of her, but one truth remains: her love was constant and real. If anyone wanted to understand who Sherry Cannon truly was, they would only need to look at the way her children love. She taught us sacrifice—not as loss, but as giving from the heart. She gave what she had, whether it was her time, her strength, or her last dollar, simply to see someone else okay. What some may have misunderstood as weakness was her depth of love that cannot be measured. No one is given a manual for this life. We all do the best we can with what we are given. Our mother lived that truth. She carried what she had to carry and trusted that God had a purpose for it—even when it wasn’t clear. She believed deeply in the Lord. She reminded us to lay our burdens down—to take them to the foot of the cross and leave them there, not to carry what we were never meant to hold alone. Even as her body began to fail her, her faith did not. She found comfort in knowing that God still loved her, and she carried that belief quietly in her heart. She fought to the very end, and through it all, she prayed for her children. Sherry found joy in the simple things. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, and in her earlier years, sewing. She loved being outdoors, especially in the warmth of the sunlight. She was a fan of racing and especially admired Dale Earnhardt. She cheered for the Alabama Crimson Tide and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. Some of the most cherished memories were the simple ones—the quiet times, the moments spent outdoors, and simply being in the presence of her loved ones. Those were the moments that made her heart smile most. We thank the staff of Center Well Home Health, Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living & Northside Rehab for all they have done to support and care for our mother over the last few years. You gave her healing, independence, and happiness after the passing of our father. She is preceded in death by: Husband: Delmous L. Cannon Parents: Jimmy and Maudine Riddle Glass. Though our hearts are heavy, we trust that nothing in her life was unfinished. We may not understand everything, but we believe God does not leave anything undone. Her love, her prayers, and her sacrifice will continue to live on through us. She is deeply loved, and she will be profoundly missed. Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 26th at: Village Chapel 101 Vandell Blvd, Gadsden, AL @ 2:00pm. Family Viewing will be from 12-1 and friends will be received from 1 - 2pm
