Mrs. Rebecca Lane Ragsdale Snead

Our dear, sweet, fun, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Becky, slipped peacefully into her new and glorified body late in the afternoon, on October 13, 2021. She left this temporary earthly home, because of COVID, and is now a new resident in her glorious Heavenly mansion. God has watched over Becky like none other, and we’ve witnessed numerous miracles He poured out for her, even through her struggle for life. God promises to provide. And He has. Becky passed peacefully from her hospital ICU room before any machine support was terminated. Her heart was just so tired and weary. She needed a rest. A good one. So, her Jesus took her by the hand, gently whispering, beckoning to her heart, “Come, take a walk with Me, let Me show you what I have for you, My good, faithful, beloved child. Let Me take you to the still waters and green pastures." And He wooed her away from the chaos, as the sounds of beeping and worrisome talk became but faint mumbles and rumbles in the increasing distance, escorting her toward Heavenly peace, as her lungs miraculously felt easy, unlabored, finally being filled with the long-awaited Ruach, God's very breath of life, where there previously was none. Becky's body, now unencumbered by tubes and needles - free - as Jesus strolled along, with her arm wrapped in His, ushering her into her new home and her new life in true paradise. And all of Heaven's angel choirs were waiting for her, to welcome her, to minister to her and shower her with immense and magnificent love like she has never before seen, experienced, or even imagined, as she is seated at the table in a place of honor to partake in the feast set just for her. For, while in this earthly life, Rebecca Snead unselfishly put everyone else before herself, without thought or hesitation. And Jesus says, "Those who are first, shall be last. And those who are last, shall be first in the Kingdom of Heaven." And now, having known and felt with the flawless assurance that she is DESIRED and CHERISHED, above even all the splendor that surrounds her now, Becky will never look back. After a mere glimpse of what Heaven has, who could WANT for anything more? Because Becky was a wonderful Christian lady, who firmly believed in the Holy Trinity, the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, Heaven had a place prepared for her. The hospital Chaplain quoted from a book that "our grief is our love for Becky perpetuated." We all know, and have peace, that Becky has been made whole, she is well. And that she is receiving far, far more than anyone could ever give her. Most importantly though, we are able to walk in this blessed assurance that the Lord our God turns ALL things for good for those who love Him. And she loved Him! Becky's God, our God, turns ALL things to HIS glory. So we can live with the certain knowledge that, because He says so, Becky's life, as well as her passing, have brought, in some way, much glory to the Kingdom of Heaven. And because Becky was a lover and follower of Christ, she would have it no other way. She would WANT her life, and her death, to have purpose, that they were not in vain. And what greater purpose in life but to point others Heavenward to Jesus? Becky would NOT want that importance missed on anyone. And for that, we praise Him still. Because as much as Becky fiercely loved her Chad, Kate, Kaela, and Paisha, as much as she loved her family and friends, as much as she loved life itself, she loved and respectfully desired even more so to honor all of Heaven above, making the choice in her younger years to forsake that which would ever try to pull her away, while still adamantly bringing the life-giving love of Christ to all who were in her life, without any trace of judgment, and always with a smile and the purest of love found in any human heart. All of her family and friends who are grieving can relish in these remembrances of her. Becky is survived by her dear husband, Chad, with whom she just celebrated their Silver anniversary. They were able to visit together on that day in the hospital in late September. It was the only visit Chad was able to have with her before she passed away. Chad and Becky met at Sears in their early twenties. Becky went on to work at Westbrook Christian School and was currently employed at Life of Alabama. Chad and Becky have (and is survived by) three lovely daughters, each with striking red hair and a variety of fun dispositions. Katherine (Kate) is 20 years old and a junior at Auburn University, studying all areas of theater, while she secures roles in shows and movies in her off-time. Kaela is a thriving 15 year old, and a ninth grader at Westbrook Christian School in Rainbow City. Kaela has spent her time excelling in academics, as well as ballet for many years, and occasionally gymnastics. Chad and Becky’s third, chosen daughter, Paisha, is also 20 years old and is living and working in South Carolina. When Becky wasn’t busy with work, her entire world revolved around these beautiful girls, whether it was sitting in the lobby doing homework with one while the other danced, securing housing for acting jobs, helping with job applications, or just sending filtered snap chats back and forth. Becky was their biggest fan. Becky is survived by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Hampton of Attalla, Alabama, and her two sisters and their families: Julie Ragsdale Broadway (Bob) from Huntsville, Alabama, and their five children, Madison, Kevin, Elizabeth, Summer, and Reese; and Macey Alia Pettit (Kevin), from Gadsden, and their two sons, Joseph and Christopher. In addition, other remaining family members are her parents-in-law, Charles (Chuck) and Marynell Snead, sisters-in-law and families: Amanda Daniels (Jody), and their children, Kirsten, Skye, Jade, Jakob, and Jase; and Freda (John) Kelsey and their children, Andrea, Kimberly, and JP; and niece, Shawna. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Stafford Ragsdale of north Gadsden, and her sister-in-law, Sue Morton, of Gadsden. Becky’s family would like to thank you for being a part of this journey these last few weeks. Your prayers, emotional support, words of encouragement, and just relationships, have been absolute blessings and have helped to fuel them onward through this horrific battle. But most importantly, thank you for being part of Becky's life journey. Though far too short a span, she placed exceeding value on each relationship in her life, more than each will ever know. Becky’s family is humbly grateful for all the undergirding of strength the community has been for her, and them alike. Thank you for loving Becky and her family so well, especially through these last days of hers on this earth. We will forever be grateful to what you have brought to Becky’s life. And we know that she would want every person to know her heart for them. A special thank you to dear cousins and family members for their pall bearer service to their beloved Becky. They are: Bob Broadway, Chuck Hampton, Dan Hampton, Charlie Hampton, Kane Rooks, and Jacob Fata. Honorary pall bearers are Wade Wofford, Jody Daniels, Jack Hampton, Luke Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Village Chapel Funeral Home, with visitation held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Light hors devours will be served afterwards at Westbrook Christian School Cafeteria, Rainbow City. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” – II Corinthians 5:8
