Jon Aksel Noojin

Jon Noojin, age 67, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, after an extended illness. Jon was a native and life-long resident of Etowah County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Mae Owens Noojin; father, Joseph E. Noojin Jr.; brother, Joseph “Joey” Noojin III; nephew, Jamie Todd Noojin; grandparents, Willard and Mae Owens, Joseph Sr. and Adele Noojin; aunt, Nan Noojin Pegues; and uncle, Ben C. Noojin. Jon is survived by his wife, Becky O’Bryant Noojin; son, Ben (Heather) Noojin; granddaughter, Emma Noojin; soon-to-be granddaughter, Isabella Noojin; step-grandson, Braylon Blessing; brother, Owen Noojin, Foley, AL; cousins, Jane Noojin, Houston, TX, Julia (Duke) Caro, Prattville, AL, Carol (Bob) Dorsey, Mobile, AL, Boles (Lynn) Pegues, Opelika, AL; several nieces and nephews; many wonderful and cherished friends; and a special lady he called his “2nd Mom”, Sandy St. John, Attalla. Jon was a graduate of Etowah High School (1975) and Jacksonville State University (1981). He was a very well-liked Attalla businessman who worked at his family business, Noojin Owens Bodholdt Supply Co. Later he and his brother owned the business, Noojin Owens Supply in Attalla. Together they also built apartments, houses, and subdivisions in Attalla, Rainbow City, and Southside, becoming close friends with the homeowners. He was a wonderful, devoted and much-loved husband, father, and grandfather “Gamp”. Jon was always willing to help anyone in need and happy to help friends with building advice or absolutely anything. He was kind, honest, and very understanding no matter the situation. Jon was a longtime member of Attalla First United Methodist Church. He loved playing his family piano and keyboard and was a gifted pianist from the age of 5, when he was taught by his grandmother, Adele Noojin. He enjoyed going to his Parkinson’s exercise classes and support groups, and he loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed quiet country living, working with his hands, long drives in his convertible on a cool fall evening, playing in bands, and making people smile. A special thank you to an extraordinary friend, Jon’s caregiver, Regina Herron, who quickly became part of our family. She was always joyful, patient, and helpful in many ways and is extremely appreciated. Also thank you to Enhabit Hospice of Gadsden, Big Springs Village and Pruitt Hospice, both in Cedartown, Ga. Pallbearers will be Tommy Batson, Norman Roberts, Lanny Whitt, Marty Colvin, Paul McClain, and David Hayes, all of which are special longtime friends. The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024, and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Village Chapel Funeral Home. Pastor Carol Hollis will officiate. Jon will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in his family section.
