Jill Cook Vickery

Funeral will be at 2 PM, Friday, May 19, 2017, at Village Chapel for Jillian Carol Vickery, 34, of Attalla, who died May 15, 2017. Brother Larry Garrard will officiate. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Jill Cook was born and raised in Etowah County. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Lily, and everything in her life revolved around her. She had a host of friends and family that will miss her immensely. All that knew her loved her. Jill, a 2001 graduate of Etowah High School, will be missed by her classmates. Most people, when asked about Jill, would tell you she was loud and full of life, and loved the game of softball. She excelled at the game that she played since the age of 8. She went on to play at Wallace State during her college career. Till her passing, she loved the sport and supported Lily, who inherited her love of the game. Jill worked at Riverview Regional Medical Center in the ICU after graduating the nursing program at Gadsden State in 2005. In 2016 she received her CCRN, and shortly after that she started travel nursing and worked at the Baptist Hospital in Montgomery, AL. Over the years, Jill became loved by every patient she cared for, respected by peers, and trusted by her physicians. There are too many to count, friends and loved ones, coworkers, techs, nurses and doctors that count it a loss to their profession with her passing. Jill was known by all for many things, however if you truly knew her, the one thing she loved most after her family and was her beloved Auburn Tigers! She was and will forever be their biggest fan. WAR EAGLE JILL! ROLL TIDE, ROLL TIDE, ROLL TIDE! Love, us. Jill was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sarah and Jack Rakestraw. She is survived by her daughter, Lillian Vickery; parents, Carol and Johnny Cook; sisters, Holly (Michael) Holland and April (Daniel) Morgan; nieces, Jaden Morgan, Jenna “Squeaky” Morgan, and Madison Holland; and grandparents, June and John Cook. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at any WinSouth Credit Union in the name of Lillian R. Vickery. Pallbearers will be Don Mathis, Chris Naylor, Craig Naylor, Zack Pruitt, Adam Steele, Teddy Hawk, and Bobby Kline. The family would like to thank Tanya Weinbell, Keri Martin, and also to Dr. Herbert Chen and Kelly Lovell, CRNP at UAB. The family will receive friends from 6 pm – until, Thursday, at Village Chapel.
