Howard Hanes Minyard

Funeral service for Howard Hanes Minyard, age 78, of Hokes Bluff will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Village Chapel in Gadsden. Burial will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Pastor Robbie Edwards and Brother Ricky Phillips will officiate. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Minyard was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Lena Minyard; Brothers, Talmadge, Charlie and Gene Minyard; Sister, Dorothy Underwood, and his best friend Smoky the dog. Howard was a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved providing for and spending time with his family and his beloved doggie Bella. He served our country for 8 years between the Army and Air National Guard. He was a member of the Local Union Hall RSWDC 441AFL-CIO. He was employed for 33 years by Merita Bread Company before retiring. He was a passionate Auburn Tigers and Atlanta Braves Fan. Howard loved the Lord and attended First Baptist Church of Rainbow City, serving faithfully until the time of his illness. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Virginia Minyard; children, Mona Williams, John (Teresa) Minyard, Renae (Ken) Castleberry, Jeffrey “Fred” (Lisa) Minyard, Tim (Yuliya) Keener, Audrey (Tim) Phillips, and Angie (Dru) Richey ; Grandchildren, Brittany (Jeremy) Handley, Blaine Minyard, Joseph (Kesley) Minyard, Jesse Martin, Ricky (Tayler) Phillips, David (Holley) Templeton, Dakota (Taylor) Minyard, Jeremy Martin, Jeffery Minyard, Scottie Phillips, Peyton Phillips, Alexis Richey, Timothy Keener, and Jonathan Keener; Great grandchildren, Levi Minyard, Tristan Minyard, Jac Handley, and Charlie Handley; Sister, Linda Davidson; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Kwan, Dr. G. Patel, Nurse Drew and Nurse Emily of 8th Floor CCU and Nurse Tiffany of MICU at Gadsden Regional Hospital. Flowers will be accepted or a memorial may be made to First Baptist Church of Rainbow City, 200 E. Grand Ave, Rainbow City, AL, 35906. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 10:00am-12:00pm prior to the service at Village Chapel.
