Elaine Kirkpatrick

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Village Chapel for Mrs. Elaine Kirkpatrick, 75, of Attalla who left her frail body and became part of God’s Glorious Kingdom on Sunday, October 29, 2023, after a battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by her family. Brother Michael Bailey will officiate along with a reading to be given by her special grandson, Tyler Womack. Interment will be at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Elaine was born to Edgar Lee and Maude Virginia Kirkland on February 26, 1948 in Gadsden, AL. She was of Mormon faith. She attended Litchfield High School and worked for the nuns at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital. She devoured God’s Word and prayed daily for her family, friends, and anyone in need. She saved every single card or letter ever given to her. For her, whatever had been written to her was what meant the most; that was the real gift. She was an amazing cook and made some of the most gorgeous cakes ever seen. She enjoyed finding new ideas of what she could cook up next. She would say her most favorite thing to do in this world was just being Mawmaw. Her second favorite thing was her furbaby, Angel Kisses. Mrs. Kirkpatrick was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James Kirkpatrick; parents, Edgar and Virginia Kirkland; daughters, Connie Franklin and April Pate; grandson, Wayne Franklin; brothers, Larry Wing, Eddie Kirkland, Dennis (Terri) Kirkland, and David (Emily) Kirkland; and sisters, Susie Jackson and Peggy Harper. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughters, Dale Jones and Traci (Knox) Sharp; sons, Eric (Mindy) Kirkpatrick and James Franklin; grandchildren, Tyler (Samantha) Womack, Koty and Dawson Franklin, Sidney, Mackenzie and Eric Michael Kirkpatrick, and Jessica (Colton) Peterson; brother, Kenneth (Cathy) Kirkland; sister, Dianne Moore; furbaby, Angel Kisses; special friends, Joel Hardin, Kenneth and Nancy McBurnett, Peggy Ball, Marie Smith, and Melissa Gerhart. Special thanks to The Hardin Family, Reed Memorial Baptist Church, Southern Care Hospice, Brianna (RN), Raven (Tech), and Gloria (social worker), The Gerhart family, Jerry’s Pharmacy, and Dr. Christopher Bailey. Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Tyler Womack, Koty Franklin, Dawson Franklin, Blaze Gerhart, and Bryce Gerhart. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
