Bonita Darlene Conner

Bonita Darlene Conner age 68, of Glencoe, Alabama, passed away on July 23, 2026. Known to all as “Bonnie,” she was born July 11, 1958, in Talladega, Alabama. Bonnie was a member at First Baptist Church Glencoe and had previously been a longtime member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Ohatchee, Alabama. Bonnie enjoyed Southern Gospel music and was an avid sports fan. Her TV was almost always tuned to a live game or replay of Alabama football, Braves baseball, the Little League World Series, or college softball. Bonnie was content and never complained, even as her health declined. Before her health struggles, she enjoyed senior adult trips, meals with her “Lunch Bunch,” making crafts for friends and her Sunday School class, working word search puzzles, crocheting, and coloring. During Covid, Bonnie colored beautiful, intricate pictures for residents of local nursing homes. And though she could not travel, she contributed to foreign missions by crocheting lap blankets for babies in Mexico. Bonnie loved her family. She is survived by three daughters: Bonita Gomez, Kristy Freeman (Ben), and Sandy Munn (Matt); grandchildren: Jackson, Cooper, Hunter, and Addi Gomez; Kaitlynn Smith; Haley and Connor Munn; Brody Freeman; and Tabi Davidson; and great-grandson, Waylon Smith. Bonnie was preceded in death by her only, beloved son, Donnie Walker; parents, Grady and Edna Hunter; and brother, Gene Hunter. I would like to thank Dr Stephen Higgins and Dr Jarod Warren for patiently walking Mom and me through the last few years, as well as Dr Al-faris, Dr Bally, Megan Moore NP, Dr Amin, Dr Benn, Dr Davenport, Fresenius Kidney Care Gadsden, GRMC nursing and rehab staff, and Gadsden Health and Rehab for your compassion, care, and patience in answering the many questions that arose during Mom’s healthcare journey. And finally, Mom could not have stayed in our home till her last days if not for the wonderful people of FBC Glencoe who took her to dialysis for me. The family will have a Celebration of Bonnie's life on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 10am at First Baptist Church Glencoe - 103 N College St, Glencoe, AL 35905. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Village Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
