Mr. Delmous "Dale" Larry Cannon

Funeral services will be held 6 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at Village Chapel, for Delmous Larry Cannon, age 71, of Gadsden, who died in May 16, 2023. Dr. Steve Fain will officiate. There will be no graveside following the service. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Delmous “Dale” Larry Cannon was born July 31, 1951 to the late Ralph Emmanuel and Lela Cannon. Dale attended Emma Sansom High School. In 1970 Dale married the love of his life, Sherry D. Glass, and the two have remained married for 53 years. Dale is a Veteran of the United States Army, where he served over 9 years. During that time, he not only learned how to be a soldier, he also became a father of three. In 1980 Dale returned from Texas after his second honorable discharge and then began a thirty-year career in the tree service industry. He also read his bible and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was saved at the age of 21 and baptized that same day. Dale enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, watching football games, and spending time with his family. He was also a creative man who hobbied in soft lure bait. Dale and his son, Joe Cannon, began making the “Craw Worm” less than a year ago. You can find this bait on www.cannonridgerunners.com. All proceeds from Dale’s Craw Worms will be placed in a trust for his widow, Sherry. Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Emmanuel and Lela Pearl Cannon; siblings and spouses, Robert (Lucille) Cannon, Ralph (Katie) Cannon, Max (Frances) (Kathryn) Cannon, Marguerite (Tommy) Strickland, Frank Cannon and Christine (Albert) Yarbrough; son-in-law, David Click; granddaughter, Taliyah Marie Nevaeh Rooks. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry Glass Cannon; children, Tyra Lynn (David) Click, Joseph (Becki) Cannon, Julie M. (Sirron) Rooks. He was Paw Paw Dale to (9) grandchildren, Harlie (Johnny) Saylor, Austin Click, Kendelle (Nathan) Stovall, Trevion (Kentara) Rooks, Tre Rooks, Cole Cannon, Trinity Rooks, Trenton Rooks. Great Paw Paw to, Rylan, Onxiya, Trevion, and Aiden. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann (Tom) Hare; sister-in-law, Phyllis Cannon and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Riverview ICU staff, ICU nurses; Ariel, Anna, Jesse, Susan, Kaylie, and Rebecca; Doctors, Hwang, Shubair, Narayan, and Eta. Also, we would like to extend our gratitude to Letha Cannon and Tabitha Hare, for keeping Mom (Sherry) company daily, bringing her comfort and coffee, filled with laughs and love, and those who have prayed, called or messaged us. Thank you! The family will receive friends Friday from 5 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
